Moon Whispers for December
We want to dedicate the healing this month to India and to all the people who were there during the attacks. We choose to unite all Gods and Goddesses, from all the traditions and religions, to let go of the suffering incurred.
We are going to connect to the healing of the Earth, to Gaia, and to the Goddesses that are connected to Earth healing. We will be focusing on the new energy that came in on November 27th with the New Moon. Compassion, long-life, healing and serenity are all part of this energy, which White Tara represents. Therefore, she will be the first Goddess we will honor from today until the full moon on December 12th. If you have a picture of White Tara, you can set your altar with white flowers, water, sandalwood, white candles, a white cloth, and say the mantra "Om Tara Tuttare Ture Soha" three times. Repeat these little affirmations three times also: May all sentient beings be free from suffering. May all sentient beings be in joy.
On the full moon, we will honor Gaia, the Great Mother, the Greek Goddess of the Earth, and where all Goddesses come from. We will set a new altar, with a brown cloth, patchouli, white candle, and any crystals or stones you choose. To awaken the Earth Mother within us, and ask for her help, we say, "Mother Gaia, the plants, the animals and humans are in danger. The planet itself is sick. Please restore balance within us, and within our planet. Teach us to respect the Earth that we walk on."
During the waning crescent moon the week of the 21st, we will honor Red Tara, the keeper of the eternal flame within ourselves. For the altar, red cloth, red candles, dragon's blood incense and/or red pine essential oil, red flowers and a picture of Red Tara. Chant the same mantra as above, and repeat the affirmations again three times.
The 26th brings us the Dark Moon. In the Dark Moon, we honor the Egyptian Goddess Sekhmet. She can help us transform the negativity on the Earth and within ourselves. The ritual we will add to our altar is to offer her three threads: white, red, and black, as well as three candles of those colors. We will offer her water, which we will add black and red color to it, which represents the union of everything on Earth.
You can find pictures of all these Goddesses online to print for your altar.
